Pink Day

Today marked the official end of our collection of acts of kindness throughout our school. However, we have seen a shift in the students’ understanding of what it means to be kind and why we need to be kind to others. Students recorded acts of kindness that were done both in class and at home. One child wrote a story about ways she was kind at home. Parents emailed us accounts of kindness and we received notes explaining how children were kind to their parents and siblings at home. Today we invited students to wear something pink. It is officially pink shirt day but we wanted to be inclusive and invite students to wear a bit of pink. We made pink bracelets and students could wear them if they didn’t have any pink items at home. We also created a basket of pink bracelets for the office. Anyone who didn’t have a pink item could pick a bracelet from the basket. It is so nice to see how the students embraced this challenge and took a leadership role within our school. image
