We are beginning a global project that involves describing what we see and comparing it to other places around the world. Today our first book is posted, see below. Our class walks around the schoolyard and pond area regularly. We were amazed to discover some big trucks. Each week we observe the changes that are happening within our own school area. Our walks have launched an inquiry into construction and construction vehicles. We hope other schools will view our book and show us their view from their schoolyard.
The second part of the project is titled How Can We Help? We would like our students to understand that they can have an impact on the world. We want them to learn ways they can make the world a better place. Our class participated in the Terry Fox National School Run in September. We ran and raised money for the Terry Fox Foundation.
Another way we help is by being bucket fillers. We are learning how to compliment each other and how to speak kindly to our peers. We can make a difference in the world through our interactions with each other.
A food drive has begun in our building, Scare Hunger is the theme of the drive. Students are invited to bring in food items for the local food drive. Each donation makes a difference in the lives of a family.
