Look what’s changing!

For the past week, our students have been observing some larvae in tiny cups. We have filled our wonder board with questions, statements and wonderings.” It can’t be a caterpillar because caterpillars are green.” “What is it eating?” “How is it breathing?” “Will it turn into a butterfly?” “What is the stuff on the bottom of the cup.”

We are reading books and watching clips about various insects and their life cycles. Some of our students are learning about exoskeletons in their guided reading texts. It is wonderful watching the students share their new learnings with their peers.

The students were very excited to see the changes that happened over the weekend. Lots of new wonderings are starting to surface.
